Our first route to market and associated revenue stream is refrigerated trailers (or 'reefers') for the grocery and wine industries. Clean Power has already partnered with a multinational US-based grocery chain to start gathering data and technical information. This data will enable us to refine the design of an engine which meets the industry's requirements for improved fuel consumption, lower noise levels and reduced emissions. The market potential is especially attractive given that it is driven both by economic pressures (such as fuel prices) and by legislation (such as US idle-time and quiet zone regulations and Euro IV / V pollution standards).
Current reefer engines operate on diesel engines which are neither fuel efficient nor environmentally sustainable. In an age where all industries are striving for fuel efficiency solutions, reduced emissions and 'green' credentials, Clean Power provides users with rapid return on investment both in terms of Corporate & Social Responsibility and bottom line economics.
We are currently modifying an existing refrigerated trailer for a major supermarket chain. By replacing the diesel engine in the refrigeration system with a CESAR unit, emissions of carbon dioxide, the main greenhouse gas, can be reduced to zero and fuel costs can be eliminated when running on steam. At the same time, compliance with anti-idling and quiet zone regulations is ensured.
We anticipate that the reefer engine will be commercially available by the end of 2009.
